About Us
Welcome friends, family, and all of you we have yet to meet!
For those who don’t know us yet, we are a family of three (plus dog) who love the place we call home. As you will no doubt find out, Whidbey Island is a magical forested isle, surrounded by the waters of Puget Sound in Washington State. Though our roots here may be planted deep, we are also filled with wanderlust—a desire to explore the world, to meet new people and meander our way through new places and experiences. We have somehow found a way to balance a lifestyle a bit “outside the box” you might say. One that is both grounded in place as well as nomadic at times. We have found a way to structure our home/work/school life in such a way to accommodate the occasional “walkabout.”
We keep coming back and we keep being pulled away. Flowing with the tides…from a cozy home to life on the road…from the familiar into the unknown…from structure to freedom…
Come along for the ride. From little excursions to epic journeys, we hope that you will enjoy a glimpse of the world through our eyes. And, perhaps you find a nugget of inspiration to nurture your own wanderlust dreams!

Tiffany
I am the keeper of the blog, the chief homebody and also usually the first to say, “let’s go.” I love to hike in the mountains, walk in the woods, garden, read, volunteer in my community, and spend time with family and close friends. I am blessed with opportunities to support others in their quests for rejuvenation and adventure. The natural world fills me with awe. Learning about, taking care of, and sharing the treasures of this precious planet are infused into my whole being. I am in introvert at heart but I savor relationships and new experiences. The more people I meet, the more convinced I become of our commonalities and in the goodness of humanity. And the more I travel, the more I learn and grow. Life is truly a gift—an amazing adventure, whether close to home or on the road…

Jonathan
Did somebody say road trip? Jon is always up for an adventure. Distance and miles will never deter him. Combine a road trip with some baseball and a cold beer at the end of the day and you have made his dreams come true. I think his favorite adventure yet might be the summer we decided to tour as many major league ball parks as possible. What started out as a simple mission turned into an epic 3 month, 24 ballpark, 48 state, 16 national park, camping trip, visiting as many friends and family along the way as possible. Talk about a wild ride! (Tiffany did the logistics on that one. Jon did the driving ;-)
Jon is a carpenter by trade, a creative soul who is also a workhorse who doesn’t know how to be idle or spend time indoors. He is a jack of all trades, a collector, and a problem-solver. When he’s not working he coaches baseball, plays softball, swims in lakes and keeps me moving. An all around great combo to have on the homestead and on the road!

Dylan
Dylan is in his second year of high school. He is a creative, an athlete and an excellent student. He loves to draw, create digital art, practice parkour, karate, play games, ultimate frisbee, and baseball. He loves to camp, hone his wilderness living skills, swim in cold water and hang out with his friends. From an early age he has had to learn to go with the flow, as we pulled him out of school for long stretches and set off one one grand adventure after another. He has collected treasures and memories and filled up drawing pads from Australia, to Greece to Iceland and countries in-between, not to mention all 50 states. And, I think maybe he’s just getting started…

Juneau
Juneau is a three year old border collie with ice blue eyes. He did not get the memo that he’s a working dog and his proclivity for napping and sitting in laps keeps us joking that he’s part cat. He does love to hike and he’s always up for a camping trip. He prefers to have his own chair or at least a lap to sit on if possible. We added Juneau to our family after returning from an extended trip to Europe. Not long after, in the early days of the pandemic we purchased a used camper van and have kept our travels mostly to road trips so he can come too. Overseas travel becomes more tricky with pets but we are finding a way to make it work.
